Daily Affirmation

According to an article entitled “The Power of Affirmation” by Remez Sasson, positive affirmations are positive sentences or phrases repeated many times in order to condition the mind, especially the subconscious mind, and trigger it into action. These sentences describe a situation that we want to happen and they are repeated many times with attention, feeling, and faith.

When using daily affirmations, what a person is actually doing is repeating the phrase over and over until their brain becomes saturated and performs the same thing as what they were hoping for. Typically, people tend to be misinformed about the importance of the mind in carrying out various ends and results in their lives. Because the mind is the most powerful element of what makes things happen in our lives, the affirmation tends to have a surprising effect. This may sound easy to do but, when dealing with our state of mind, it is actually like a punch in the moon, meaning, very difficult. Controlling the unconscious mind is difficult because, from the word itself, unconscious is defined as “operating or existing outside of consciousness. Our minds have a tendency to function the way they want to and making a decision to repeat a daily affirmation is not something we are pre-programmed to do. Instead, the repeating of a daily affirmation requires serious contemplation and focus in order to be made possible.

More often than not, people are not aware that they are repeating negative sentences and statements to themselves because these statements are being made unconsciously. They may be related to diverse situations in their lives which unconsciously bring undesirable situations upon themselves. Daily affirmations work both ways, to build and to destroy. First they call up the old programs to the surface as if by a battle cry. Sometimes they work fast, but most of the time they need time to dig in their heels and devise a strategy. Bear in mind that repeating positive affirmations for a few minutes, and then thinking negatively, neutralizes the effects of the positive words. You have to eliminate the negative thoughts in order to attain positive results.

Affirmations are the same as creating visualization. You may have experienced a short moment where an exact scene from a dream or past event has seemed to reoccur, but you were not certain when or where it happened. Déjà vu, as they say, is a common experience but some may simply categorize this as a plain visualization. There are visualizations brought about by our strong desire to achieve or to get to a certain situation in our lives, such as the receiving of an award or arriving at a goal. The repeated words can build mental images and scenes in the mind that help to focus on the aim. Frequent and continuously repeating these daily affirmations makes the subconscious mind accept them and then it influences the way one thinks and acts.

The conscious mind, the mind you think with, begins this process and then the subconscious mind takes charge after a while. Biologically speaking, this explains how powerful our mind can become. This also explains ESP and other mind-related activities which usually amaze us when we see them. For some people they are completely normal. The most frequent thoughts that pass through your mind can unquestionabley and ultimately affect your life and your destiny.

Daily affirmations function like commands which we input into a computer. We can use this human “technology” in our everyday lives through daily affirmations which will in turn influence us, other people and other events and circumstances. It might seem strange sometimes but daily affirmations actually do work. It’s just a matter of setting our minds to the task and overcoming the push and pull of the subconscious mind. Set your mind to the task today of repeating a daily affirmation to yourself each day and you will begin to see the positive changes it can have in your life.
