Many people are using visualization to achieve great things. Therapists all over the world are teaching visualization to their clients. Many books have been written on the topic, and you can even purchase visualization audio and video tapes. This is all because visualization works - and it can work to build a positive attitude too.
Visualization is the process of relaxing and using your imagination. The point is to see yourself where you want to be, doing what you want to do. But there is more to it than that. Visualization is used in many ways.
Visualization can be used to reach goals. Instead of imagining yourself where you want to be, doing what you want to do, you can imagine yourself taking the necessary steps to get there. You can use visualization for motivation to take those steps by visualizing the end result.
Visualization is also used to relieve stress, pain, and anxiety. It is used in weight loss programs and addiction programs. It has been used to improve relationships. Visualization has been proven to be effective for a wide variety of problems over and over again.
To practice visualization, simply find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes. See yourself how you need to see yourself for the visualization exercise, and try to make it as real as possible in your mind. Use all five senses - sound, smell, taste, sight, and touch. If you have problems visualizing without help, make audio tapes that will lead you through it, or purchase audio tapes that are designed to aid visualization.
Visualization can be used directly to create a positive attitude by imagining yourself facing a difficult situation or problem with a positive attitude, and seeing the actions and reactions of other people in your mind. If nothing else, this will give you the incentive to try it out - just to see if people will act or react as you envisioned they would!

Many people don’t realize the huge role that a bad attitude plays on their stress levels. Bad attitudes create stress, and stress can create bad attitudes - not to mention a multitude of additional health problems.
When we have bad attitudes, we don’t see things as clearly as we do when we have positive attitudes. This inability to see things from the proper prospective often makes our difficult situations worse, which creates stress. Additionally, the more stress we experience, the worse that bad attitude is likely to become, which creates even more stress - it is a vicious cycle.
We can, however, break the cycle in two steps. First, create a positive attitude - no matter how bad the situation may seem, try to look at it with a positive attitude. Think about how good it will feel to be past the situation. Get it fixed in your mind that you will solve the problem, or improve the situation one way or another - even if you don’t have a clue what that solution will be at this point. Give yourself a positive self talk, and assure yourself that you are okay, and the world is not going to end over this problem - life will go on.
Once you’ve started at least trying to have a positive attitude, start reducing your stress levels. This can be done even if you still don’t have a solution for the problem or situation - however, it will be very hard to reduce stress if you aren’t at least trying to be positive.
There are many ways to reduce stress. Physical exercise is one of the most effective ways. Try to get at least thirty minutes of strenuous exercise three times a week. On the days that you aren’t working out, try some deep breathing techniques and meditation. Also employ some visualization exercises - picture yourself relaxed at a time and place when you are past the situation at hand. See yourself the in the minute the problem is solved, and visualize how happy and relieved you will be to be done with it.
The combination of deep breathing, meditation, exercise, and visualization, preceded by the decision to have a positive attitude, will enable you to de-stress and get things into the proper perspective to work through the problems at hand.

You may have heard it said before that an attitude change is easy. All you have to do is change everything about yourself. As crazy as it seems, it’s the truth. A change in your attitude will eventually involve everything about you. It’s easy and yet, the fact that you have to keep at it day after day after day is what makes it really hard. An attitude change requires a long term perseverance that few people have. That’s what makes it the biggest change you will ever make.
Attitude changes typically take place when something monumental happens in a person’s life that suddenly makes them see everything differently. This may be a near-death experience or some kind of tragedy that they weren’t expecting. People begin to see that life is extremely fragile and they begin to think that maybe the real meaning of life is contained in something other than the things they used to value so much. They begin to change their values to and to approach life from a new perspective about what is truly important. It doesn’t have to be a tragedy or a near-death experience, however, which brings this about. An attitude change can take place simply because you decide that you want to make yourself into a better person and you are determined to make that happen.
One of the most common reasons for bringing about an attitude change, besides a tragedy or near-death experience is the simple fact that a person becomes fed up with the life they have been living. They no longer see themselves as a worthwhile individual and they want to feel good about themselves again. Maybe it was just a little thing that went wrong in their life but it was somehow the straw that broke the camel’s back and now they are ready to really change their life. How do they get serious about this plan and make themselves actually stick to the new changes that they have in mind for themselves? What do they need to do to actually make this attitude change a reality?
One of the best ways to really make your attitude change stick is to join a group and make a commitment to go to that group several times a week in order to remind yourself about the changes you are trying to make. Other people can do wonders for your attitude and make you stick to the promises you have made for yourself simply because you feel more support from other people when you join a group. It really doesn’t matter who the people are in the group and whether you like them or not. This is not how an attitude change works. The change takes place because you make a commitment to make friends with some new people who are trying to do the same thing as you are trying to do; i.e. improve you life! You go to the group, not because the people are so great or you love them so much. You go to the group because you are trying to make yourself a better person and you know that you can’t really do it on your own. This is called humility and it is a primary ingredient in bringing about an attitude change in anyone.
You have to be able to admit that you can’t do everything on your own. People don’t become educated doctors or lawyers on their own. They go to school and classes to achieve this. Similarly, you can’t change your attitude and become a new person on your own. You need other people! If you are serious about making an attitude change in yourself, you will make a commitment to join a group and start working toward your goal with others who are also interested in the same thing. There are thousands of groups out there and you can find one that fits the interests you have to make a change. Attitude change is easy but it takes concerted effort over a long period of time. What better way to devote yourself to this long term goal than to try out a new group and make a commitment to help out each week. You will surely be on the road to success once you have made that decision!

The words “success” and “positive attitude” should really be considered as synonyms. When it comes right down to it, these two ideas are really just the same thing. If you have success, for example, you will have a positive attitude and if you have a positive attitude, you will surely have success. There really is no difference.
Some people may argue that they have often held a positive mental attitude in the past but things didn’t work out for them. They now feel that positive attitude isn’t always enough to bring you to success in life. You need more than a positive attitude, they say. You need “luck” and “good fortune” as well as a good attitude. Although this may be true in the short term, this is not actually true over the long term.
Some people are born into worse conditions than others. This is just a fact. Still, you don’t need more than a positive attitude to be successful no matter what situation you were born into. You just need more perseverance and strength to maintain your positive attitude over the long term. You may just need to hold on longer than the other people who were born into better circumstances. The things that determine success for other people born into a bad situation are only the same things as everyone else. The only difference is determination to remain positive and to overcome the negative things that have been placed in your way.
One of the greatest tools for overcoming a negative situation is to accept that everything happens for a reason. At first this may seem incredibly hard to do. Things oftentimes seem so unfair on the surface. Still, if you first accept that this problem has been placed in front of you for a reason, you will be able to face it with more strength and to eventually overcome it with great determination. Others, who may have been born into a better situation may be blessed for some reason that we cannot see upon first glance. It may seem unfair or unjust that they have been given more but, if we can remember that everything happens for a reason, we will be better equipped to turn to our own lives instead of pointing our fingers at others.
A positive mental attitude is something that is sometimes taken for granted by the people who already have it. They feel good about their lives most of the time and they rarely suffer from depression or anxiety like so many other people do. Successful people feel good and they sometimes take their positive mental attitude as a “given”, often wondering why more people don’t feel the same way as they do. Actually, what they fail to recognize is that they are extremely lucky to have a positive mental attitude and this attitude they possess is actually the real reason why their lives are so good most of the time. They are reaping the rewards of the good things they did before. If they decide they want more from their lives, they are in a good position to try for more and to even achieve greater and greater things and it is their positive mental attitude that will make these extra things possible.
Positive mental attitude makes it possible for people to add the frosting to their cake of success and to enjoy even greater things than just “mere success”. We should be grateful that there are other people who can actually go on to spread their happiness to others and this is what the frosting of success is all about. For us, we must look at the place we are at and do everything we can to improve our attitude each and every day. This is the royal road to success at whatever cost it may come.
A positive mental attitude can indeed bring success to everyone but it requires strength and perseverance in many cases. Next time you think that attitude isn’t enough, think again. You may not have all the answers just yet but more will certainly be revealed. You may just need to pick yourself up and try a little bit harder before you discover the success you were after.

There is no doubt about it - bad things often happen to good people. It’s really just part of life and the world we live in. Often, you cannot prevent bad things from happening in your life - but you have total control over how you handle those bad situations. You may find that the easiest way to handle bad situations is to start looking for the positive aspects of those situations.
Whether you realize it or not, every bad situation that you encounter will have a positive aspect. It may not be easy to find, but it is probably there. You may not even realize that the bad situation was good for weeks, months, or years…but that positive aspect is almost always there somewhere.
Often finding the positive aspects of a bad situation is easier when you have a positive attitude to begin with, and you approach the situation with a positive attitude. Approaching any bad situation with a negative attitude tends to make it worse.
For instance, if you lose your job, you now have the opportunity to find a better job that you may enjoy more. However, if you are looking at things from a negative point of view, you will worry that you won’t be able to pay your bills, you will waste time feeling sorry for yourself, or placing blame on others. Your time is better spent looking for that great new job - with a positive attitude.
Most bad situations are affected by how we approach them. If we approach them with a negative attitude, they are harder to solve. If we approach them with a positive attitude, however, we find that the situation is much easier to deal with, easier to solve, and that something positive can be gained from it.
There is a great deal about our lives and the world that we live in that we cannot control. The only thing we have absolute control of is ourselves - and our reactions to situations and people around us. The key is to turn those situations and people into positives that we can benefit from. So, the next time you are faced with a bad situation, stop and open your mind. Think about how you can benefit from this situation - and smile.

Just as energy creates more energy, a positive attitude creates a positive attitude. So in effect, no matter how bad a situation may seem, you can make it better simply by pretending to have a positive attitude - even if you don’t feel positive.
A positive attitude affects your own mindset, as well as the mindsets of the people around you. Therefore, even if you are just pretending to have a positive attitude, the people around you will be affected to the point where they develop a positive attitude in relation to the situation. This positive attitude will clear their thinking, and help them make better decisions in relation to the problem at hand - which helps you out as well, and helps your false positive attitude to become real as well.
That pretend positive attitude will also have a great deal of positive affect on anyone that you need to deal with that could be a solution to your problem as well - even if they are not directly involved in solving the problem. For instance, if your business is on the verge of collapse, and you needed to visit your banker to get a loan to carry the business through the financial crisis, you wouldn’t want to walk into his office crying and complaining about how bad business is. Instead, you would want to walk in with a smile on your face, and tell him positive things about the business and the plans for the future, so he can see that you haven’t given up, and he can see that there is a viable plan.
Pretending to have a positive attitude is not permission to tell untruths, however. The people that are involved in helping to resolve a problem must be told the truth of the circumstances. The point is to try to portray a positive attitude that a solution will be found, and to let your team know that you are not giving up, that you don’t believe the situation is hopeless, and the situation will be resolved somehow - even if you don’t really believe any of that yourself.
Furthermore, you can fool yourself into having a positive attitude as well. By pretending to have a positive attitude, you portray it for so long that it becomes a habit - a learned response. Without even realizing it, the positive attitude that you portray each day becomes real. When this happens, most people don’t even remember that they were pretending in the first place!

Have you ever noticed that when you are around someone who is happy and bubbly, you become happy and bubbly yourself? It’s true. This happens because a positive attitude is as contagious as laughter. If someone starts laughing uncontrollably, before you know it, everyone else in the room is laughing - even if they are just laughing at the person who was laughing in the first place. Positive attitudes work just like that. (more…)

You may not realize it, but having a bad attitude can cost you a lot. It may cost you money, but mostly it will cost you opportunities, your health, your happiness, and love or friendships. Think about your life and your attitude. You can’t put a dollar amount on most aspects of your life, but that doesn’t mean the loss of some things doesn’t cost you anything. What has your bad attitude cost you? (more…)
